Technical Assembly Specialist (TAS) Training
The TAS Training Program is a sequential certification curriculum designed to develop technicians in all critical stages of system builds, ensuring defect-free workmanship and compliance with IPC-620 and production specifications.
The program consists of 5 integrated modules: precision screwing and torque control (M1); IPC-620 compliant electrical interconnects, including crimping and cable bundling (M2); precision mechanical assembly, fittings, and leak testing (M3); ESD-safe handling and PCB inspection (M4); and a full system build using schematic diagrams and the Online Manufacturing Specification (M5).
By program completion, trainees will earn competency sign-off in screwing and System Integration specifications — mastering defect-free screw installation, compliant electrical connections, functional leak testing, safe component handling, and an integrated system build referencing live production documentation.
Master defect-free screw installation and torque control for all fastener types using smart tools.
Execute IPC-620 compliant electrical interconnects, including crimping, cable bundling, and wire management.
Perform precision mechanical assembly, including fittings (QD, Swagelok), and conduct functional air pressure leak tests.
Apply ESD-safe handling techniques for components and PCBs, and perform accurate pre-installation visual inspections.
Successfully complete a full system-level build by interpreting schematic diagrams and the Online Manufacturing Specification (OMS), and applying all preceding skills.
Module 1: Screwing & Fastener Skills Participants will identify fasteners, apply correct torque, operate tools safely, and complete defect-free screw installations. |
Module 2: Electrical Interconnect Skills Participants will perform crimping, cable bundling, tie-down, and tube trimming according to IPC requirements. |
Module 3: Mechanical Assembly Skills Participants will perform precision assembly, fitting, leak testing, and sealing using the correct tools and fixtures. |
Module 4: Material Handling & Inspection Participants will safely handle and inspect PCBs, electronic components, and fibre-optic cables using proper ESD and waste-management practices. |
Module 5: System Assembly & Routing Participants will integrate mechanical installation, electrical connections, routing, labelling, and torque sealing into a complete system build. |
