Foundations of Advanced Testing Equipment & System Architecture
Automated Test Equipment (ATE) is the backbone of semiconductor manufacturing quality. This programme delivers a system-level understanding of ATE architecture, covering the hardware, mechanical, electrical and software dimensions of modern test platforms. The training combines engineering theory, practical troubleshooting methods and real-world case studies to help engineers and technicians design, operate and maintain reliable ATE systems.
Explain complete ATE system architecture and the signal path from instrument to Device Under Test (DUT)
Apply interface technologies such as mass interconnect and pogo pin systems
Apply EMI and noise mitigation techniques for reliable measurement
Operate and maintain mechanical device handling systems safely
Integrate test software and apply structured debugging methods to resolve system faults
Day 1: ATE Hardware & Safety Architecture Participants will trace ATE signal paths and apply essential ESD, high-voltage, interlock, and emergency safety protocols. |
Day 2: The Interface – Interconnects, Pogo Pins & EMI Participants will diagnose interconnect issues, maintain interface hardware, and mitigate electrical noise using appropriate techniques. |
Day 3: Mechanical Handling – Wafer, IC & PCB Participants will safely operate handling equipment, maintain fixtures, and troubleshoot faults using Golden Unit testing and signal sniffing. |
Duration
3 Full Days | 24 training hours
Methodology
A blended, hands-on approach combining system architecture diagrams and concept lectures, signal path and hardware visualisations, industry case studies on test failures, EMI and measurement instability, live demonstrations of pogo pin wear, fixture inspection and signal measurement, and hands-on troubleshooting through Golden Unit testing, signal probing and noise diagnosis.
Target Audience
Designed for engineering roles (Test, Product, Equipment, Process, Automation and Machine Vision Engineers), technical roles (ATE, Maintenance and Production Technicians), and management roles (Engineering, Test Engineering and Manufacturing Managers). Best suited to organisations in semiconductor manufacturing, electronics manufacturing services (EMS), and the automation & test equipment industry.
Course Level
All Levels. No minimum qualification required — open to all technical staff.
Pre-requisites
Basic electrical / electronics knowledge preferred.
Progress with Compassion.
We exist at the intersection of technical mastery and human development, because we believe these are not two separate things. They never were.
